About the role

An opportunity exists for an experienced, motivated and teachable person to join our new team delivering emergency accommodation and support services for women and their children leaving violence in South-West Sydney.

The role ensures that the families we serve receive appropriate and quality services and that, with them, we do all we can to make sure their next moves are forward and free from fear or violence.

This is a demanding but rewarding role, requiring initiative, resilience, collaboration, creativity and genuine compassion. It will involve work from our site as well as in partner organisations and homes of people we support. It will work closely with health, police, Department of Communities & Justice, schools and other community services and organisations. It will require travel across the districts in which we deliver services.

The role is both site-based and mobile. It will include earlier starts or later finishes, a share of on-call responsibilities, and may include occasional require availability on weekends and public holidays.

* willingness to contribute generously to all the hands-on activities required to make our site and service function day-to-day and to ensure that families are served and their support needs are met
* qualifications and experience relevant to the provision of quality accommodation, care and supportive services – especially in settings supporting families leaving violence
* understanding of homelessness and domestic and family violence, and an ease in providing warm and credible empathy, assurance and safety to people who experiencing or have experienced it
* ability to articulate a practice framework that is family and survivor-centred, trauma informed, culturally competent and respectful of diversity – and the role of case management in supporting resilient, safe and healthy families
* knowledge and experience relevant to responding to children at serious risk of harm
* effective communication skills and administrative competencies – computer literacy, documentation, data collection etc
* ability to perform in complex and challenging community welfare settings – flexible and creative approaches to work, matched with tested personal attributes such as resilience, patience, initiative, compassion and commitment to self-care
* ability to embrace Wesley Mission's values and to work within its codes of ethics and conduct – and to work respectfully alongside the mission and values of partner organisations.
* local, sector or organisational knowledge
* familiarity with sector practice guidelines, information systems and outcome measures
* knowledge of surveillance and other risks relevant to leaving violence.

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Crisis Accommodation Stream, Level 3. Salary range $100,786 to $105,352 per year.
