ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Council is looking for an appropriately qualified person to plan, implement and monitor education programs aimed at building understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, places, history and languages in the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA).This position will be informed by Cumberland Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan and will respond to community identified needs, priorities and strengths.
The successful applicant will be a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent who has:
* Experience in delivery of education programs and ability to engage with a wide range of audiences – including children, young people and seniors
* Demonstrated experience in community development and/or community engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
* Demonstrated project management skills, including sound knowledge and experience in planning, delivery and reviewing programs, and ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
* Strong communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
* High level administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and advanced skills in Microsoft Office
* Ability to maintain accurate financial records and monitor expenditure
* Current Working with Children Check
* Current Class C Driver's licence.

About this role:
* Working 42 hours per fortnight with core hours between 8:00am to 4:30pm. Working days will be negotiated with the successful candidate, however there may be requirements to attend meetings or events outside of ordinary hours.
* Located at Council's Merrylands administration office however and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
* Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $45.25 to $52.03 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation
* The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
What you'll need to have for this role:
* The right to live and work in Australia
* Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
* Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
* Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
