Job Overview
Hitachi Rail is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to join our team. As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting railway signalling systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be available to work on an ad-hoc basis, with flexible hours and varied tasks.
* Support the help desk activities for remote and centralized Maintenance activities
* Continuously monitor signalling system component lifecycles and supply chain data to identify potential obsolescence issues.
* Work closely with engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure a coordinated approach to obsolescence management.
* Investigate and resolve complex obsolescence issues, ensuring minimal disruption to production and ongoing operations.
* Seek out and implement innovative solutions to extend the lifespan of our products and minimize the impact of obsolescence.
* Maintain obsolescence tracking tools and generate regular reports.
* Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to stay ahead of lifecycle changes.
* Assist team leader with internal and external reporting requirements.
* Participate in team meetings, attend workshops, and other training initiatives.
* Ensure all activities undertaken comply with applicable HSE laws and policies, including the reporting of all safety incidents using Company procedures.
Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience in Railway Signalling System
* Bachelor's/master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Software System or relevant engineering discipline
* Product Expertise: Knowledge on critical signalling wayside, onboard and train control systems/equipment's.
* Familiarity with BOM management tools and obsolescence databases
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* A good communicator with effective stakeholder management & conflict resolution skills
* Superb time management and professionalism
