Gov Recruit is seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to support a major Federal Government digital uplift and applications-modernisation program. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in complex environments, balancing user experience, accessibility, policy compliance, and technical delivery.
You will be part of a collaborative ICT team modernising legacy systems and improving digital services for a large-scale government program.
About the Role
As a UI/UX Designer, you will:
* Design user-centred interfaces for government platforms and enterprise systems.
* Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to gather insights.
* Create wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, personas, journey maps, and experience flows.
* Ensure all designs meet government accessibility and policy standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
* Work closely with analysts, change managers, developers, and program stakeholders.
* Support implementation by collaborating with technical teams to maintain design integrity.
* Balance user needs, policy requirements, and business objectives.
* Con, tools, and processes.
* Advocate for user-centred, inclusive and accessible design across all outputs.
Strong accessibility knowledge (WCAG standards).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, Axure RP, and similar tools.
Understanding of government design standards and policies.
Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
Experience in large-scale government programs.
Experience working with or redesigning legacy systems.
Technical Expectations
3–5+ years professional UI/UX design experience.
Coding skills and familiarity with government digital frameworks preferred.
