About the Role:
This is a high-impact position for an experienced lawyer ready to provide legal guidance across the full spectrum of banking and corporate operations.
Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be instrumental in driving the organisation's compliance, governance, and risk posture while enabling strategic and operational goals.
This role is ideal for a commercially minded lawyer with broad in-house financial services experience, ready to navigate enterprise-wide legal issues—from mergers and employment law to IP/IT procurement and company secretarial matters.
* Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice across banking, corporate, and financial services matters
* Negotiate and manage contracts, including SLAs, supplier arrangements, finance agreements, and corporate initiatives
* Navigate complex regulatory landscapes and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
* SUPPORT BOARD AND GOVERNANCE FUNCTIONS by advising on director duties, conflicts of interest, and statutory reporting
* Collaborate with business units on risk management and dispute resolution strategies
* Foster strong stakeholder engagement across senior leadership, regulators, and external counsel
Requirements & Experience:
* Admitted solicitor in NSW with at least 7–10 years' post-qualification experience in financial services, banking or corporate law
* Expertise in consumer and retail banking law, with an ability to manage a broad portfolio of legal issues (including employment, IP/IT procurement, and governance)
* Strong knowledge of financial services laws and regulations, including ASIC and APRA frameworks
* Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at executive and board level
* A collaborative, pragmatic, and commercially-minded approach to legal problem-solving
* Familiarity with customer-owned institutions will be well regarded
