Montague Farms stretches from Legana in Tasmania right up to Batlow in New South Wales, stopping on the way at Narre Warren North, Harcourt, Ardmona, Dilpurra and Mildura. It consists of 1,000 hectares of productive orchards and significant packing operations. Montague Farms produces apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches, apricots, grapes and citrus.
Our business is expanding through organic growth and as a result we are seeking candidates for the role of Farm Handwithin our Orchards Team.
About the role:
Farm Hands carry out the day-to-day operations and duties involved in running a large-scale orchard and supporting the teams directed by the Farm Manager(s).
The Farm Hand role involves:
* General farm duties during both harvest and non-harvest periods including but not limited to spraying, weeding, slashing, pruning, mulching, thinning, cleaning, irrigation, tree training and fruit harvest.
* Operating tractors, tractor drawn machinery and other machinery, equipment, tools and relevant implements assigned to the tasks on the orchard.
* Demonstrated experience in operating farm machinery and equipment is essential for this position.
* Mix chemicals and apply pesticides, herbicides and fertiliser to the crop.
* Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Report identified defects and errors to the manager immediately
As a successful Farm Hand, you will:
* Have at least 3 years' experience in a similar role (ideally as a Farm Hand)
* Possess agricultural experience relevant to farm operations and crop management.
* Be capable of working flexibly within both a team environment and independently when needed.
* Be motivated, enthusiastic, positive and show initiative.
* Have a willingness to learn, be punctual and reliable.
* Be physically fit, love working outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Demonstrate a good work ethic with a sense of pride in your work.
* Have a positive attitude toward all aspects of Work Health and Safety.
* Hold a current, unencumbered driver's license.
* Must hold a current car licence to fulfil the driving requirements of this role.
Hours are Monday to Friday - 7.30am - 4.00pm (working overtime is sometimes requested)
Forklift license, Chem Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Chainsaw training and experience are all highly regarded.
