Head of Department - Infectious Diseases Head of Department - Infectious Diseases - Tasmanian Health Service - Launceston General HospitalJoin our Northern Hospitals team as Head of Department - Infectious Diseases and lead meaningful change in patient care while shaping the future of infectious disease medicine in our region.About the OpportunityThe opportunity exists for a Specialist Infectious Diseases (ID) Physician to join the team at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) as either a Staff Specialist or as Head of Department ID & a Staff Specialist.
There is also the optional opportunity to incorporate a minor Microbiology role for a suitably qualified candidate.
LGH is Tasmania's second largest hospital, serving the North of the state and a population of approximately 250,000, with 330+ beds and a tertiary Intensive Care Unit.
The LGH has teaching and research credentials with ties to the University of Tasmania Medical School and research supported by the Clifford Craig Foundation.
All services focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, workforce, and the Tasmanian community.The Role:Staff Specialist ID Physician or Head of Department ID & Staff Specialist ID Physician, providing specialist care in IDProvide outpatient consultation to public patients across Northern Tasmania in specialist ID servicesProvide specialist advice to inpatient units as required, including twice weekly critical care ID roundsBe involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teachingParticipate and lead the Antibiotic Stewardship ProgramThere is the option to include Clinical Microbiology, in addition to the ID Physician role for a suitably qualified ID PhysicianWhat We're Looking ForFellowship training in Infectious Diseases or equivalent qualificationsProven leadership experience in clinical settingsStrong communication skills and ability to work with diverse teamsCommitment to teaching and mentoring healthcare professionalsExperience with quality improvement and patient safety initiativesWhat We OfferCompetitive remuneration, comprehensive professional development opportunities, and the chance to make a genuine difference in community health.
