Location: Brisbane, QLD 
Length: 8 months opportunity for Temp to Perm 
4 days onsite, 1 day from home 
Must be an Australian Citizen 
About the Role 
A leading engineering and technology organisation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing team supporting high-impact projects in the defence and advanced communications sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging systems alongside a collaborative and high-performing team. 
Key Responsibilities 
- Design and develop practical and cost-effective mechanical solutions for complex systems 
- Maintain and update technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and version control 
- Execute engineering change requests (ECRs) and implement improvements based on user and manufacturing feedback 
- Review and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy and cost-effectiveness 
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise designs for manufacture and deployment 
Skills and Experience Required 
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or a related engineering discipline 
- 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, ideally within a regulated or defence-related environment 
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD Inventor), FEA, and drafting to AS1100 standards 
- Experience designing enclosures and mechanical assemblies (e.g. sheet metal, racks) 
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and familiarity with basic electrical/electronic integration 
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment 
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work 
- Australian citizenship (required due to project security requirements) 
- Eligible for or currently holding Baseline Security Clearance 
- Eligible for RPEQ or NER registration preferred 
- Experience working in maritime or defence-related environments is an advantage
