We are on the hunt for a Financial Controller to join Alquemie Group
As our Financial Controller, you will be a key leader within the Finance team, owning the end-to-end accounting and reporting cycle across your nominated Business Unit/s. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll combine strong technical capability with commercial thinking, ensuring financial integrity while continuously driving process improvement and innovation.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll partner closely with key stakeholders across the business, support and develop your team, and play a critical part in shaping the financial performance of the Group.
What You'll Be Doing
Accounting & Control
* Ensuring adherence to Australian Accounting Standards and Group Accounting Policies.
* Maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger, including bank and payment provider reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, provisions, revenue recognition, inventory and COGS, payroll accounting, intra-group recharges, lease accounting and income tax.
* Owning the Fixed Asset Register, including depreciation, acquisitions, disposals and tax asset registers.
* Preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations in line with Group reporting timetables, with timely resolution and escalation of issues.
Reporting & Compliance
* Preparing and presenting accurate monthly management reports, including meaningful variance analysis and commentary.
* Managing statutory and taxation compliance including BAS, IAS, FBT, GST (where applicable) and ABS reporting.
* Coordinating external audit requirements, including statutory reporting packs and reconciliations.
* Delivering accurate and timely reporting to landlords, brand partners and investment stakeholders.
* Maintaining allocated sections of the Master Data File.
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Preparing weekly cash flow forecasts.
* Leading the annual budget process in partnership with Business Unit Heads.
* Preparing periodic reforecasts in line with Group timelines.
* Maintaining budget and forecast data within trade reporting systems.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
* Identifying and implementing process improvements across finance operations.
* Contributing to system enhancements, testing and deployment initiatives.
* Creating and maintaining clear process documentation to support team training and knowledge sharing.
What You'll Bring
* Minimum 4+ years' experience in a commercial accounting role.
* CA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience preparing and analysing financial and management reports (retail experience highly regarded).
* Experience with AP21 and/or NetSuite highly regarded.
* Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of review.
* Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
