Job Overview
The Payroll Expert Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring the end-to-end execution and oversight of payroll processing at all levels. Reporting to senior management, this position requires exceptional expertise in processing payroll for complex businesses.
Main Responsibilities
* Takes full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, from data input and validation through to payment execution, reporting, and reconciliation.
* Oversees the execution of payroll processes to ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, and internal policies.
* Conducts regular audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
* Stays abreast of legislative changes and proactively updates processes and documentation to maintain compliance.
This role is responsible for providing expert advice on employment laws, including interpretation of the NES, Modern Awards and tax and superannuation regulations. The Payroll Expert Leader will lead the operational delivery of payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments while uplifting the function to meet compliance with all relevant industrial instruments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A relevant vocational qualification, such as a Certificate III in Accounts Administration, Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, or Diploma of Payroll Services.
* Previous experience working in a similar role within the Retail environment or Public Sector.
* Advanced level of competency using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
* Over 5 years of experience using relevant payroll software like Pronto MYOB, Xero etc.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and interpretation of multiple awards, including but not limited to, General Retail Industry Award and Clerks Private Sector Award. They will be able to navigate challenging payroll scenarios and demonstrated experience in payroll remediation processes.
