About Yara Pilbara
The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara will also build a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

Responsibilities
Yara is seeking applications for their permanent role of Mechanical Technician.
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing mechanical support services to Yara Pilbara Fertilisers (YPF) and Yara Pilbara Nitrates (YPN) manufacturing plants under the direction of the Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator to meet Yara's desired production targets in a safe and cost-effective manner.
The successful candidate will:
1. Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance and plant modifications related to mechanical equipment and other tasks within skill as allocated by the maintenance coordinator.
2. Perform other activities as required utilising gained knowledge, training and experience to meet business needs as required from time to time.
3. Ensure allotted work is completed as per work instruction in a tradesperson-like manner under the direction of the maintenance coordinator and other technical specialists.
4. Work in compliance with the framework of laws and regulations, organisational policies and performance criteria that corresponds to the quality of products, customer relations, (process) safety, environment (stakeholders), peer/supervisor relations, maintenance costs and budgets.
5. Coach, mentor and assist apprentices during the course of the daily work.
6. Cooperate and liaise with maintenance specialists/reliability engineers to resolve complex problems.
7. Record all work data appropriately (such as work history, fault reports, maintenance events, and time confirmations) within the guidelines of the work management system.
8. Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the workshop and in the plant.
9. Undergo site-specific training for isolation officer and perform isolations as part of Permit to Work.
10. Supervise contractor personnel when assigned to do so.
11. Undergo site-specific training as required for the role and gaps identified during competency mapping.
12. Carry out the shutdown & Turnaround maintenance activities, as required and assigned.
This position requires a highly skilled Mechanical Technician with a strong background in rotating equipment maintenance, materials handling equipment maintenance, and machining.
Profile
To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
1. TAFE/ CERT III or IV equivalent or Diploma in mechanical engineering
2. Ideally 3-5 years of experience in a similar industry (Petrochemical, Gas Processing or Oil Refining)
3. Possess and apply knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance including rotating elements, bearings, seals, couplings and associated components.
4. Possess and demonstrate a sound knowledge of machining.
5. Possess and apply knowledge of materials handling equipment maintenance including gearboxes, pumps, conveying systems, materials screening equipment and associated components.
6. Good computer literacy in software including SAP and MS Office suite
7. Understanding of relevant industry statutory standards and regulations
8. Develop and maintain high environmental standards and practices
9. Must be fluent in English, written and oral
