Due to continued growth, UGL's Manufacturing & Maintenance business is seeking skilled Vehicle Builders to join our Locomotive New Build team in Broadmeadow, Newcastle.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity on a 9-day fortnight schedule, offering day shifts from Monday to Thursday (5\:30am – 2\:30pm), with every second Friday off, and working 5\:00am – 1\:30pm on the Fridays you do work.
The Role:
In this role, you'll report directly to the Service Delivery Manager, contributing to locomotive new builds by performing detailed internal and external fit-outs on Locomotives, and handling general workshop duties. Responsibilities include:
* Cutting and installing flooring
* Installing air ducting and acoustic insulation
* Fitting roof and wall linings
* Handling internal and external GRP panels
* Installing windows and assembling doors
* Sealing and backfilling with Sikaflex products
About You:
We're looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
* Australian trade certificate with a Certificate of Proficiency in Carpentry Joinery, Shop Fitting, Shipwright, or Vehicle Building
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Reliable and punctual with a commitment to safety
* General rail or locomotive experience (desirable but not essential)
* Ability to interpret schematics and production drawings
* Capable of working autonomously and in a team
* Customer-focused with a drive for quality work
