About the role
Based in Melbourne, the Business Development Manager is responsible for driving profitable commercial growth by influencing HVAC system selection early in the project lifecycle. This role works closely with consultants, architects, builders and internal sales teams to shape project outcomes, support opportunities from specification through to quotation and award, and ensure successful conversion while protecting margin and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants, architects, builders and facilities management groups to influence early specification of Temperzone and Hitachi solutions
* Actively challenge and reshape specifications that are unlikely to convert due to cost, complexity or misalignment
* Embed Temperzone solutions as the preferred basis of design to reduce late‐stage competitor substitution
* Drive growth through strategic account and territory management of assigned customers
* Identify, develop and manage new business opportunities across commercial and residential/light commercial markets
* Collaborate with sales, product and pricing teams to ensure commercial alignment and margin compliance
* Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity pipelines and monthly reporting
* Deliver presentations, attend trade shows and participate in customer and internal events as required
* Gather and provide structured market intelligence on competitors, pricing and customer needs
* Always demonstrate safe and environmentally responsible work practices
Desired Skills and Experience
What you will bring to the role
* Proven sales history within HVAC or a related industry
* Minimum 5 years' experience in an external sales role with established brands or projects
* At least 2 years' experience working with consulting engineer specification targets
* Demonstrated experience in business development, specification sales or senior commercial sales roles
* Strong understanding of HVAC systems, applications and commercial project delivery
* High understanding of VRF technologies, selection and application
* Experience influencing project outcomes from early design through to conversion
* Excellent communication, organisation and time‐management skills
* Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders
