Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the full spectrum of the Council's legal affairs, from commercial and property law through to construction, contract management, dispute resolution, and compliance with government legislation. Ensure governance frameworks remain robust, transparent and aligned with the evolving legislative environment. Translate complex legal principles into practical, outcome-focused advice to support informed decision-making across all levels of Council.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will bring extensive experience in the delivery of legal services within a large, multifaceted organisation—ideally within or alongside local government. You are a confident and trusted advisor with the professional presence to engage across all levels of government, elected representatives, and the community. A strong leader with high emotional intelligence and political acumen, you foster calm, clarity and collaboration in challenging situations. Your background demonstrates sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to risk, and a genuine commitment to public value.
