City Laws Officer will provide efficient and effective Local Laws, Parking, Animal Management service by effectively administering and enforcing all Acts, Regulations and Local Laws as delegated in a professional and efficient manner

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Undertake generalist Local laws duties
- Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with Council Policies and Procedures
- Investigate all breaches of Council Local Laws and other relevant legislation
- Assist with Fire Prevention Inspections
- Proactively investigate non-compliance with Council's General Local Law No 1 or other relevant legislation.
- Timely update of Council's Customer Request Management System to accurately record investigations conducted.
- Assist City Laws Administration staff as directed and required.
- This role requires rostered overtime work, including on weekends, and participation in the after hours on-call program.
- Respond to litter and noise complaints, street furniture, fire prevention, unregistered and abandoned vehicles overhanging branches, unsightly property complaints, burning off complaints
**Requirements and Qualifications**:
- Certificate IV in Local Government Statutory Compliance (or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to represent Council at the Magistrates Court or other jurisdiction as required.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare letters, reports and memoranda
- Experience in a high-pressure customer service environment
- Experience in either: justice administration, public administration, law enforcement, animal management, customer service or related fields.
- Knowledge of the Domestic Animals Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act Environmental Protection Act, Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act CFA Act Local Government Act, Road Safety Act, Road Rules - Victoria and Councils Local Laws
- Quality customer service and presentation skills that support a positive image of the organisation during difficult situations and an environment of conflict
- The ability to walk long distances and handle animals (including the ability to lift).
- Ability to attach, load and reverse a variety of trailers eg horse float, stock crate etc
- Current Victoria drivers licence, and ability to maintain the license
