Role Title: Special Care Nursery Registered Nurse

Role Type: Fixed Term – Full Time

Department and Location: Special Care Nursery, The Mater Hospital, North Sydney

Salary: 42.02 - 54.21 AUD base per hour.

About the Role:

This role is a Fixed Term Full Time Contract for 12 months, with the potential to be extended.

The role of a Registered Nurse within our Special Care Nursery (SCN) is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and family-centred care to neonatal patients, ensuring that care aligns with the philosophy, mission, and values of St Vincent’s Health Australia.

As a Registered Nurse in the SCN, you will be responsible for delivering evidence-based, safe, and effective care to neonates, ensuring all actions are within your professional scope and adhere to established clinical standards.

The Mater SCN cares for neonates from 32 weeks gestation, as well as premature infants born prior to 32 weeks, referred from tertiary hospitals across NSW.

The SCN Registered Nurse is committed to upholding the policies and procedures of Mater Hospital and St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA), ensuring exceptional patient care and fostering a safe, collaborative, and dynamic workplace.

About You:

Current AHPRA Registration.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Midwifery

Postgraduate Certificate in Neonatal Nursing, or working towards.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in neonatal nursing or a passion for working with neonates and their families.

Competence in assessing and managing neonates’ health conditions, including those requiring special care or intensive treatment, or a willingness to gain such expertise.

Bubble CPAP proficiency is desirable

Sound knowledge of Department of Health Guidelines and Regulations, Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control, and their impact on neonatal care delivery.

About The Mater:

In this role you will be based at the Mater hospital, North Sydney.

One of Sydney’s premier private hospitals.

Close by to train stations at North Sydney, St Leonards, and Crows Nest, and buses on Pacific Highway.

The only Australian hospital that is a member of the International Society of Orthopaedic Centres.

Core specialties include Obstetrics, Orthopaedics including hip and knee joint replacements, bone and sports injuries, cardiology, cancer care and surgery, lung and vascular medicine, ear, nose and throat surgery, urology, endocrine surgery, and neurosurgery.
