The Role
As an I&C Engineer, you will design, program, and commission the advanced control systems driving Australia's renewable energy transition. Focused on large-scale Solar and Battery (BESS) projects, you will build robust, secure SCADA and PLC networks that seamlessly connect field assets to the grid. Operating at the intersection of automation, cybersecurity, and engineering excellence, you will collaborate with cross‐functional teams to deliver reliable, high‐performing clean energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & OEM Integration: Architect control systems and network layouts, ensuring seamless integration with PV Inverters, BESS, and substation suppliers.
* Grid Connection & Compliance: Act as primary interface with NSPs and AEMO for SCADA commissioning, regulatory compliance, and emergency coordination.
* PLC Programming & Support: Implement reliable PLC code and provide technical engineering support to asset management and O&M teams nationwide.
* Project & Quality Management: Oversee daily project development, drive cross‐functional activities, and enforce strict quality control standards.
* Commercial Support & Reporting: Assist with technical supplier contract negotiations and report KPIs and incidents to Corporate Headquarters.
Requirements
* Relevant Engineering Degree: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
* Renewable I&C Experience: Minimum 5 years in Instrumentation and Control systems, ideally within renewable energy EPC or systems integration.
* Advanced Automation Expertise: Proven track record in PLC programming (Rockwell, Schneider, Codesys) and SCADA/BESS/Solar automation systems.
* Network & Cyber Security: Strong background in OT network configuration, industrial protocols, and critical infrastructure cybersecurity compliance.
* Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Exceptional communication skills to coordinate effectively with external customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
