Change & communications lead | 11-mth contract

* Initial contract 19/01/2026 – 19/12/2026 with possible extension paying approx. $1,000/day
* Brisbane City Fringe Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week
* Familiarity with digital transformation projects in a higher education environment

Our client, a large complex organisation within the higher education sector, are currently seeking a Change and Communications Lead for an initial contract until 19/12/2026.

The Change and Communications Lead will be responsible for designing, delivering, and executing change and communication strategies for an ICT Project, ensuring impacts across people, processes, systems, and culture are effectively managed. Reporting to the Project Manager and working within a cross-functional Agile delivery team, this role develops clear, targeted communication and change products to support multiple workstreams, prepares the organisation to adopt new ways of working, and drives the successful uptake of change iteratively.

Acting as both strategist and executor, the Change and Communications Lead engages diverse stakeholders, aligns with the organisations frameworks and standards, and bridges business and technical perspectives to deliver practical, timely, and fit for purpose communications, engagement activities, and adoption strategies. These efforts enable effective decision making and ensure the realisation of intended benefits.

Key Deliverables


* Change management strategy document and transition plan
* Detailed change impact assessments and risk analyses
* Stakeholder engagement plan and register
* Meeting notes and engagement tracking
* Communication plan and project newsletters
* Templates, FAQs, guides, and collateral repository
* Digital channels and knowledge hubs for self-service access
* Training materials, adoption resources, and session recordings
* Readiness dashboards and adoption metrics
* BRG agendas, minutes (decisions/actions), workshop packs and briefing notes
* Benefits tracking report and benefits register
* Reporting on adoption, engagement, and change risk mitigation

Essential Skills and Experience required:

* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role with strong knowledge of change and communication management principles, methodologies, and tools.
* Proven experience implementing and communicating change initiatives using frameworks such as Prosci or AgilePM.
* Ability to engage, influence, and manage stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for change initiatives.
* Demonstrated experience aligning change management and communication activities with broader project goals and collaborating across project teams for iterative delivery.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate change messages to diverse audiences.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative solutions to mitigate change-related risks.
* Experience in developing and delivering training and adoption materials.
* Skilled in supporting business stakeholders through reference groups, workshop facilitation, benefit measurement, and user acceptance testing.

Desirable


* Familiarity with digital transformation projects in a higher education environment
* Change Management Professional (CCMP), Prosci Change Management and/or AgilePM certifications.
