The Sleepover Family Support Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and stability of women and children accessing Graceville Women's Centre.
About the role
As a Sleepover Family Support Worker you will be the primary onsite contact for clients overnight, offering support, monitoring safety and responding to urgent needs. You will build respectful, supportive relationships that encourage self‐determination and help clients feel safe and welcomed. You will also support the implementation of case plans, assist clients to access services, and ensure accurate handover to day staff.
How you will make an impact
* Provide a welcoming and responsive first point of contact for women and children accessing the service.
* Address urgent and immediate needs and take preventative action in potential high‐risk situations.
* Support clients to implement case plans in line with TSA case management models.
* Encourage client participation, self‐determination and engagement with support services.
* Maintain accurate, up‐to‐date client records and data in accordance with TSA standards.
* Monitor activities overnight and provide clear communication and handover to day staff.
* Identify risks to clients, staff and TSA and elevate promptly to the Team Leader.
* Report incidents in the required format and contribute to service improvement.
* Ensure security, safety and evacuation protocols are followed, acting as the onsite Fire Warden during sleepover shifts.
* Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment, including regular checks of rooms and facilities.
* Promote TSA programs and support clients to engage with activities and the Chaplain.
* Participate in training, supervision, quality improvement and team meetings.
What you will bring
* Certificate IV in social work, welfare, community development or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience working in the family and domestic violence or homelessness sector.
* Knowledge of trauma, abuse and the impacts on women and children.
* Ability to respond calmly and safely to challenging or high‐risk situations.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build supportive, respectful relationships.
* Ability to maintain boundaries, confidentiality and professional conduct.
* Understanding of culturally safe and inclusive practice.
* Initiative, sound judgement and the ability to work independently as a lone worker.
* Current WA driver's licence and First Aid Certificate with CPR.
* Working with Children Check.
