Position Purpose
The Purpose of The Willaneen is to provide short term crisis accommodation for women and children who are escaping Family Violence. This position is to provide an accommodation service which is accessible to women and children escaping family violence which offers equal support to women regardless of age, race, culture, sexual preference, class and ability which is supportive of the individual needs of women and her children. To ensure the safety and security of residents residing at the refuge.
Key Selection Criteria
•Demonstrated capacity to work independently maintaining the safety and security of residents of the refuge.
•An ability to engage women and children who are experiencing or have experienced family violence.
•A working knowledge of privacy and confidentiality and security issues for clients and workers as it relates to the family violence field.
•Previous experience in crisis intervention and assessment with strong conflict resolution skills.
•Demonstrated capacity to deliver culturally sensitive practices in working with the client group.
•An understanding of team responsibilities and dynamics, and the skills required to be an effective team member.
•Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
•Valid Driver licence ESSENTIAL
•Meets the mandatory minimum qualifications of a Family Violence practitioner DESIRABLE
•A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
•A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
•Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
