Assistant Editor, ARC Commercials

About the Role
ARC Commercials is seeking an Assistant Editor to support our editorial team across commercials, branded content, and short-form projects. This is a full-time role based out of our Collingwood studio, working closely with our in-house and freelance Editors and Assistant Editors. This role suits someone with a strong interest in editorial craft and post-production workflows - whether you're building experience or already working as an Assistant Editor and looking to deepen your skills in a high-end commercial environment. You'll support editors, manage workflows, and help ensure projects run smoothly from prep through delivery. We're looking for someone organised, technically capable, and collaborative - comfortable working at pace, across multiple jobs, and acting as a key on-the-ground support point for editorial and technical workflows in Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial, Offline Prep & Transcodes
* Support Editors and Assistant Editors across Avid Media Composer, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects
* Prepare, manage, and quality-check offline transcodes and editorial preps
* Assist with assembly edits, social cut-downs and resizing, and high-quality bash comps as required
* Manage rushes logging, organisation, and media management
* Support editors' needs across concurrent projects
Workflow, Systems & Hardware Support
* Manage data pipelines between suites, artists, and external suppliers
* Support back-of-house systems including Synology, Avid Nexis, and SharePoint
* Assist with hardware, cabling, peripherals, and drive management
* Act as first-line support for basic IT and technical troubleshooting within the Melbourne studio, escalating issues as required
* Work in conjunction with ARC's remote Technology & IT team in Sydney for escalations, maintenance, and system support
* Organise project archiving and unarchiving via LTO
Project, Suite & Delivery Support
* Build familiarity with projects by reviewing scripts, treatments, and boards
* Manage suite open and close procedures and support day-to-day technical stability
* Generate and manage offline review links, exports, EDLs, AAFs, and delivery materials
* Support quality control and basic technical checks prior to delivery
Conforming & Resolve Workflows
* Conform and prepare projects in DaVinci Resolve, including relinks, versioning, and prep for colour and online
* Provide overflow support on basic colour and online tasks where appropriate
Advanced & Emerging Workflows
* Maintain an awareness of advancements in editorial and post-production workflows, including emerging tools and efficiencies
* Demonstrate curiosity around AI-assisted editorial tools, automation, and evolving post-production technologies, and how they may support editorial workflows responsibly and creatively
About You
* Experience in post-production or as an Assistant Editor (level flexible)
* Comfortable with offline transcodes, editorial prep, assembly work, and Resolve conforming
* Confident supporting technical and hardware troubleshooting in a studio environment
* Technically capable, detail-oriented, and well organised
* Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset
* Comfortable working flexible hours
* A genuine love of storytelling and post-production craft
