About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Boilermakers and 2nd class welders to join the ABFI Steel Group team based in Wacol, QLD. In this hands-on workshop role, you will be responsible for welding and fabricating steel components to exact specifications, ensuring quality workmanship, safety, and on-time delivery. You'll work as part of a supportive production team, with opportunities to assist across different areas of the workshop including paint and yard/dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
* Read and interpret fabrication drawings and work orders
* Weld and fabricate steel components to Australian Standards
* Operate hand and power tools including welding equipment, grinders, and cutting tools
* Measure, cut, assemble, and prepare steel components accurately
* Move materials using overhead cranes and forklifts (if licensed)
* Carry out quality checks and maintain a high standard of workmanship
* Support general workshop, yard, and production tasks as required
Skills and Experience
* Trade qualification in Boilermaking or Welding
* Experience in steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Strong commitment to safety and quality
* Team player with a reliable and positive attitude
* Willingness to learn, take direction, and assist across multiple areas
* Forklift and/or crane tickets (desirable but not essential)
