Senior Solution Architect

We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect to support the future state of the Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS). The successful candidate will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current technical architecture, identify gaps and limitations, and provide a clear roadmap towards a more scalable, potentially cloud-based solution that supports agility, high performance, and operational efficiency.
The Solution Architect will ensure that all future state options are technically robust, aligned with Government Services Branch (GSB) directions, and tailored to meet the needs of PDMS clients and stakeholders across whole-of-government.
Key Responsibilities
* Current State Assessment
* Review the existing PDMS architecture and documentation.
* Identify limitations, risks, and opportunities.
* Develop architecture diagrams tailored to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Future State Definition
* Propose up to three technical options for a future PDMS architecture.
* Provide analysis of benefits, risks, costs, and dependencies.
* Recommend the most suitable option with justification.
* Gap Analysis
* Identify gaps between the current and future state.
* Recommend options to bridge software, hardware, platform, security, and skills gaps.
* Address scalability, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
* Technical Roadmap
* Develop a roadmap for transition to the recommended future state.
* Include sequencing, dependencies, and implementation considerations.
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Collaborate with technical and non-technical audiences.
* Incorporate business, security, and operational requirements.
* Provide both detailed technical documents and executive-level summaries.
* Demonstrated experience delivering similar architectural services for complex, whole-of-government applications within secure and regulated environments.
* Current AGSVA NV1 security clearance (or ability to obtain).
Highly Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks (ISM, PSPF) with emphasis on PROTECTED-level compliance for applications and cloud solutions.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to present to diverse audiences.
* Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical ability, providing evidence-based, impartial recommendations.
* Knowledge or experience with PDMS, VANguard, GovLINK, and other whole-of-government applications.
* Familiarity with connectivity solutions, Windows Server, SQL Server, SharePoint, .NET Framework, Angular, IIS, and ADFS.
* Formal qualifications or certifications in cloud architecture (public and private).
Working Arrangements
* Onsite Requirement: Minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
