* They also handle seasonal care, pest control, and may be involved in installing landscape features and ensuring the overall health and aesthetic appeal of the property.
General Maintenance:
Lawn Care:
* Mowing, edging, and maintaining healthy grass areas.
Planting and Pruning:
* Planting flowers, shrubs, hedges, and trees, and pruning them to maintain their shape and health.
Weeding:
* Identifying and removing weeds to prevent competition with desired plants.
Irrigation:
* Ensuring plants receive adequate water, managing sprinkler systems, and monitoring water levels.
Fertilizing:
* Applying fertilizers to promote plant growth and health.
Pest and Disease Control:
* Identifying and treating pest and disease issues in plants.
Cleanliness:
* Maintaining pathways, removing dead plants, and keeping the garden tidy.
Other Responsibilities:
Seasonal Care:
* Adapting maintenance to seasonal changes, such as preparing plants for winter or managing bulbs in the fall.
Customer Service:
* Interacting with clients, answering questions, and fulfilling requests (especially in residential or public garden settings).
Equipment Operation:
* Operating and maintaining gardening tools and machinery like lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
Safety:
* Following safety procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting hazards.
Inventory Management:
* Monitoring and managing supplies and equipment.
In-Service Training
* Participates in in -service education programs as mandated by State law. (This requirement need not be met exclusively through Right at Home sponsored in-services programs.)
Working Conditions/Environment
* Primarily works in patients' place of residence, travel required. Shift or visit times and days vary with patient needs
Key Selection Criteria
* Certificate III Qualification in Aged Care or Home and Community Care
* Demonstrated understanding of the needs of the older person in the Home Care Environment and the ways in which these needs can be met.
* Demonstrated ability to assist in the provision of holistic individual, client focused care using a systematic approach.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, significant others and other members of the Right at Home care team.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote the safety of clients and self in the work environment including a knowledge of emergency procedures, Work Health and Safety and Infection Control.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the Legislation applicable to the role of a Maintenance / Garden Services in the Home Care Environment.
