Job Overview
We are seeking a Peer Worker to join our team, providing support and assistance to individuals experiencing distress.
This role offers the opportunity to be involved in demonstrating a peer-led service model and utilise evidence-based strategies underpinned by recovery-oriented principles.
The successful candidate will have experience working with people experiencing mental illness, immediate distress and/or suicide ideation, as well as understanding of and ability to apply the principles of a recovery-oriented, person-centred and strengths-based approach to service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* To provide support and assistance to individuals experiencing distress.
* To work collaboratively with the Safe Spaces team to deliver a peer-led service model.
* To utilise evidence-based strategies underpinned by recovery-oriented principles to provide assistance to individuals experiencing distress.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will require:
Minimum Requirements:
* A minimum of Cert IV in Mental Health, Community Services or other related discipline (ideally a completed Diploma or Bachelors).
* Experience, skills and knowledge in working with people experiencing mental illness, immediate distress and/or suicide ideation.
* Understanding of and ability to apply the principles of a recovery-oriented, person-centred and strengths-based approach to service delivery.
* Lived experience of suicidality.
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organisational skills.
* Networking skills to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
* Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC.
* Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.
* Current driver's licence with a good driving history and a registered, well-maintained vehicle that is available to be used for the purposes of this role.
