Temporary Payroll Manager (ADP / Outsourced Payroll)
North Sydney | Hybrid (1–2 days in office)
3–4 days per week | 4–6 week duration
We are partnering with a global organisation based in North Sydney to appoint a Temporary Payroll Manager to cover a period of planned leave. This is a short-term contract starting Monday 2 February, with one week of handover provided. The incumbent manager will remain available remotely during the cover period.
About the Role This role sits at a review, governance and payroll accounting level, rather than hands-on processing. Payroll is outsourced via ADP, and the focus will be on accuracy, controls, approvals, reporting and payroll-related accounting.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and approve payroll runs processed by ADP / outsourced provider
* Validate payroll reports, exception and variance reports
* Review and post payroll journals and support payroll accounting requirements
* Oversee payroll tax, superannuation and statutory compliance
* Act as escalation point for payroll queries and issues
* Liaise with HR, Finance and ADP to ensure payroll timelines are met
* Support month-end payroll reporting and reconciliations
* Maintain strong governance, controls and documentation during the cover period
About You
* Proven experience in a Payroll Manager or senior payroll role
* Experience working with outsourced payroll providers (ADP highly preferred)
* Strong payroll accounting background, including journals and reconciliations
* Exposure to global payroll environments highly regarded
* Comfortable stepping into a role quickly and operating with minimal supervision
* Detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and confident managing payroll risk
* Available to commit to 3–4 days per week with limited extension flexibility
