About the role
Windlab works across the full lifecycle of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including greenfield
prospecting, resource monitoring, site permitting, contracting, financing, construction, operations and site
repowering. Decision-makers require reliable data and useful analysis for each stage of this process. Windlab
has ambitious plans and our ability to understand the present and forecast the future electricity market is
critically important.
The Market Analyst will contribute to Windlab's capability to analyse electricity markets. Key topics of interest
include price forecasts, congestion modelling, MLF forecasts and the potential scale of renewable markets within
each region of the NEM.
The Market Analyst will operate and analyse the outputs of Windlab's energy market modelling systems. The
role will work closely with Windlab's prospecting and development teams, the transactions team, the grid
connections team, the operations team and the in-house engineering/Insights Team.
The position is based at Windlab's head office in Canberra.

What will you do?
**Market research - **Develop** **relationships and communicate regularly with a broad range of policy makers,
regulators, stakeholders and information sources to ensure that Windlab has up-to-date insight into
market dynamics;
**Market analysis - **Develop and utilise tools to analyse existing and future generator sites within the NEM/WEM
considering a range of factors, including:
- Technical curtailment
- Generation of dispatch scenarios suitable for third-party DLF and MLF studies
- Wholesale prices (energy and FCAS) amidst uncertainty
- Design of auto-bidding strategies and solutions, particularly for battery energy/FCAS co
- optimisation
- Performance evaluation of live trading/auto-bidders in production (e.g. %-perfect scores)

**Market forecasts - **Develop and utilise tools to predict the following factors for proposed generators or
alternatively subregions or states within the NEM**:
- Scale of renewable energy market
- Scale of market for storage solutions
- Arbitrage and other revenue opportunities for storage solutions
- Scenarios for constraints, MLFs, and DLFs, based on planned generation, load, and transmission
capacity expansions
**Data processing - **Work with the Insights Data Systems team to develop data-interfaces on both the input and
output side of market modelling tools to facilitate integration with other models/data/analysis. This
may include:
- Using database queries to extract data from the AEMO EMMS***
- Scripting construction of market model objects***
- Scripting extraction of model outputs***
- Specifying database schema for outputs***
- Building PowerBI visuals from actual and modelled energy market data; and***
**Report writing and communication - **Prepare technical reports, briefings and other outputs to communicate
results to relevant audiences.***

Windlab's development portfolio as well as due diligence studies on prospective mergers, acquisitions
and asset disposals;
