About the Role
We're looking for a hands‑on, mechanically minded Ice Production Lead to take ownership of our ice production operations while also supporting our maintenance team.
This is a unique role blending production leadership (3 days/week) with maintenance support (2 days/week), ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and working with machinery.
You will be trained to operate our ice machine end‑to‑end, lead a small production team on ice run days, and support maintenance activities across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Ice Production – Primary Focus
* Lead daily ice production operations
* Operate, monitor and troubleshoot ice production equipment
* Supervise and coordinate a small team
* Complete start‑up, shut‑down and routine checks
* Identify and escalate equipment faults
* Ensure safety, quality and hygiene standards
* Complete production and shift reporting
Maintenance Support – Secondary
* Assist maintenance team with planned and reactive tasks
* Support basic equipment checks and preventative maintenance
* Prepare areas for contractor work
* Assist with site access and supervision
* Follow maintenance safety procedures
Skills & Experience
* Mechanical or technical aptitude (machinery experience highly regarded)
* Ability to lead or supervise a small team
* Strong safety focus with good attention to detail
* Confident troubleshooting mechanical or operational issues
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Willingness to learn and take ownership of ice production
Work Schedule
* Ice Production (Lead Responsibilities): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
* Maintenance Support: Wednesday, Friday
Desirable
* Experience supporting maintenance teams
* Exposure to contractor coordination
* Background in manufacturing, food production, or cold storage
