Chief Medical Officer / Lead GP – Toowoomba
Wellness Partners Foundation | Wellcamp health precinct
Full-time, part-time or fractional options available
Delivering a new model of care
This is not a standard GP role.
It’s a rare opportunity to build a practice while shaping a new model of care from the ground up.
Wellness Partners Foundation is establishing medical services within the Wellcamp Health Precinct, a purpose-built facility originally developed as the Queensland COVID-19 Quarantine Hub.
Co-located with Choice Chemist (AFR Fast100 – Fastest Growing Healthcare Company 2025) and modern clinical infrastructure, this site is being reactivated to support the local community and surrounding region, while also forming part of a broader national care model.
We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer / Lead GP to establish services at Wellcamp while leading the Foundation’s national health equity care model.
Why this role and care model matters
This is a rare opportunity to combine local impact with system-level change.
At a local level, you will establish and grow a GP service within a fully equipped health precinct designed for integrated care.
At a national level, you will contribute to a model that brings pharmacists and doctors together to improve access, coordination and outcomes for people often underserved by traditional healthcare systems.
Working alongside a national team of 150 Equity Care Onsite Pharmacists, this model focuses on:
* Accessible, team-based and coordinated primary care
* Medication safety and optimisation
* Continuity across fragmented systems
* Preventative and proactive healthcare
The role
This is a combined leadership and clinical role with two clear dimensions:
1. Establish and lead a local GP practice at the Wellcamp health precinct
You will build and shape a GP service within the precinct, supported by existing infrastructure and a collocated pharmacy.
2. Operate as CMO for the Foundation’s nation-wide equity care model
You will help design and refine how this model operates and scales across other locations throughout Australia.
In practice, this includes:
* Delivering clinical care primarily from the Wellcamp precinct, including on-site consultations and national telehealth outreach
* Providing primary care to the local community and surrounding region
* Managing patients with complex care needs and social barriers
* Partnering closely with pharmacists to improve medication safety and access
* Designing and refining how care is delivered within an integrated model
You will also lead and contribute to:
* Clinical frameworks and governance
* Multidisciplinary team integration
* Workforce development and mentoring
* Engagement with local partners and broader stakeholders
Supporting priority populations
The Foundation’s care model is designed to improve access for people who experience social, financial, cultural and geographic barriers to care.
This includes:
* People living in rural and remote areas
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
* Older people receiving aged care
* Persons living with disability or complex needs
* Individuals experiencing addiction
* People needing crisis/refuge accommodation
Experience in these areas is valued, but not essential.
What matters is a genuine interest in improving access and outcomes for vulnerable individuals.
Toowoomba lifestyle and relocation
This role offers the opportunity to live and work in one of Queensland’s most established and liveable regional centres.
Toowoomba provides:
* A strong sense of community with access to high-quality schools and services
* Significantly more affordable housing compared to metropolitan areas
* A growing regional economy with strong infrastructure and connectivity
* Easy access to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast
* A balanced lifestyle with space, time and less day‑to‑day pressure
For GPs seeking a change from metropolitan practice or looking to establish themselves in a regional setting, this is a compelling long‑term opportunity.
Flexibility and remuneration
This role is anchored at the Wellcamp precinct, with clinical work delivered on-site, in addition to telehealth outreach supporting the Foundation’s vulnerable individuals.
The role also offers some flexibility in how clinical and leadership time is structured.
Remuneration flexibility and features include:
* MBS billing and revenue‑sharing arrangements
* Blended salary and clinical earnings models
* Not‑for‑profit salary packaging to increase take‑home income
Why this CMO / Lead GP role is different
This is one of the few opportunities in Australia where you can:
* Build and lead a practice within a fully established health precinct
* Work alongside a collocated pharmacy and established team
* Combine clinical autonomy with system‑level leadership
* Practise within a not‑for‑profit, purpose‑driven care model
It offers a unique balance of:
* Practice‑building opportunity without the usual start‑up barriers
* A stable, well‑reseourced clinical environment
* The ability to shape both local care and a broader national health equity model
Who this role is suited to
We’re looking for a GP who wants more than a standard clinic role and is excited with the prospect of building the Foundation’s health equity care model, both locally and nationally.
You are likely to:
* Be interested in establishing and leading a practice environment
* Be seeking more autonomy and long‑term impact
* Have an interest in community care, regional health or health equity
* Be clinically confident and adaptable
You must hold current AHPRA registration and be a Fellow of RACGP or equivalent.

If you’re looking for a role where you can build something meaningful, lead from the front, and establish a service that will have lasting impact locally and beyond, we’d like to hear from you.
