The Observing Operations Trainer role with the Observing Operations Training team (OOT) at the
Bureau's Training Centre focuses on weather observation training for aviation and synoptic
purposes. Based in Melbourne, the position involves occasional interstate travel and requires
completion of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent if not already held.
Key responsibilities include managing and delivering short courses, developing and updating
training materials using modern learning approaches (flip to classroom), and delivering content via
platforms such as Moodle and digital media and in person.
The occupant will be expected to have a broad knowledge of the Bureau's operations, and have
substantial experience in performing weather observations, maintaining an instrument enclosure
and the siting of weather recording instruments. On occasion we will deliver training on Bureau
systems such as EAMS (Maximo) and other in-house cloud software that supports the Bureau's
observation network.
