About The Role
The Medical Director provides clinical leadership and strategic direction for the Adult HiTH Services, ensuring high-quality, safe and efficient patient care in the home and through Virtual Care. Provide leadership to the HiTH Service in conjunction with the HiTH Nurse Manager, and provide medical and clinical oversight of the delivery, quality and efficiency of HiTH Services, with a focus on quality and safety. Provide care to General Medical patients mainly focusing on heart failure, COPD, some acute infections such as cellulitis, and warfarin initiation/recommencement. Work with a multidisciplinary team, including a CMO, JMO, Registered Nurses and Allied Health staff. Work with Emergency Department Physicians and admitting Medical Officers to identify appropriate patients for transfer or admission to Hospital in the Home (HITH) Services. Provide clinical leadership and governance to the HiTH Staff Specialists for the four adult HiTH services. In collaboration with Hospital DSMs, develop a clinical service plan to address the increasing demand for HiTH services throughout HNELHD.
Essential Requirements
Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist (Medical FRACP / Acute Care FACEM, or other relevant specialty). Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership of acute/post-acute care services service delivery with the demonstrated ability to work effectively as a clinical leader and the ability to be part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture internal and external relationships through highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills A strong ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary environment. Knowledge of healthcare policies, regulations, and best practices pertinent to the HITH setting.
