Overview
ARH Brisbane is part of a well-established group of specialist and emergency veterinary hospitals. Our purpose-designed, state of the art hospital houses our specialty services, including small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, surgical and medical oncology, advanced imaging, and a 24/7 emergency and critical care service. We uphold high clinical and professional standards, which are driven by genuine care and compassion.
This rotating nurse position offers the opportunity to work across our Hospital, Medicine, and Surgery departments, providing a diverse and engaging clinical experience. Ideally, we are looking for full-time candidates (38 hrs/wk); however part-time applicants will also be considered.
Our nurses have excellent communication, multi-tasking, and time management skills. They have a passion for delivering outstanding patient care and enjoy the incredibly diverse range of cases that present to our hospital. They thrive in a fast-paced, team environment and enjoy the genuine camaraderie that this brings. Many of our nursing team members have come from general practice veterinary backgrounds and have now opened their hearts to specialty veterinary care.
Work-life balance is incredibly important to us – our full-time specialty nurses have an RDO fortnightly, with generally NO WEEKEND WORK. We have animal and hospital attendants to maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, and a dedicated reception team to handle all front-of-house duties, which means our nursing team can focus their energy solely on their patients. You did not become a veterinary nurse to endlessly clean or answer phones!
The successful candidate will be someone who:
* Wants to further their career in veterinary nursing
* Shares the same values as our existing specialty nursing team
* Has completed CertIV Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology and has at least 3 years nursing experience
* Has a passion for specialty nursing
* Skilled at multi-tasking, and comfortable working in a fast-paced role
* Is organised, adaptable, enthusiastic, and an excellent communicator
* Loves working in a team environment, enjoys some light-hearted banter, and wants to create strong and long lasting friendships
Responsibilities
* Inpatient treatments and care
* Patient recovery & monitoring
* IV catheter placement and fluid therapy
* Taking blood and using in-house lab equipment
* Specialist surgical and theatre nursing
