You will partner with the business to provide financial leadership and support to enable the successful delivery of the PAS contract, where you will be responsible for one of the two regions (SA or NT). This is a hands-on role that is available immediately, initially assisting us with establishing the new contract, then moving into an operational delivery role. While our preference is someone based in either of these two regions, we are open to those based in other states.
About the role

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing, managing and overseeing financial planning processes including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling to support strategic decision-making.
- Preparing accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and statutory reporting in compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
- Monitoring and managing cash flow inputs such as client claims/invoicing and contractor payments to ensure the most efficient use of working capital.
- Coordinating the annual budgeting process, and provide guidance to departmental managers and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving operational efficiency through financial analysis and business partnering.
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, financial laws, and internal policies; supporting audits and managing financial risk exposure.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations; communicate financial performance to non-financial audiences.
- Implementing and enhancing financial systems, tools, and processes to improve reporting accuracy, speed, and data-driven decision-making.
- Providing financial input into key strategic initiatives, investments, and business cases to support growth and sustainability.

- Considerable experience (10 years) in finance or accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior finance role, preferably within the defence or government sector.
- Experience managing finances for multiple locations within a state or region.
- Familiarity with government financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience coordinating and managing financial audits.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
