About RPS, a Tetra Tech Company

RPS is a leading professional services consultancy with a global team of over 38,000 people. As part of Tetra Tech, we deliver innovative and sustainable solutions in partnership with clients across infrastructure, energy, environment, and resources sectors.

Our people are passionate problem solvers who thrive on challenges, bringing together a wide range of expertise to shape projects that matter to communities. Joining RPS means being part of a company that values collaboration and professional growth, while contributing to projects that make a real difference.

Your Role

We are currently on a lookout for multiple Community Engagement Team Members (casual) to boost our capacity to deliver large scale projects on a casual basis.

As a Community Engagement Team Member, you are the face of our projects in the community. You play a vital role in bringing people into the conversation, helping them understand infrastructure and development projects, and ensuring their voices are heard.

Working alongside experienced RPS team members, you'll support community and stakeholder engagement activities, including face‐to‐face consultation events. You'll welcome participants, guide them through interactive activities (such as surveys and engagement boards), answer questions clearly and confidently, and accurately capture community feedback.

This is a casual role that strengthens our capacity to deliver large‐scale projects across the Wollongong and Shoalhaven regions, with shifts scheduled during business hours but can also include evening and weekend time slots. Standard shifts are up to 8 hours.

If you enjoy connecting with people, facilitating meaningful conversations, and contributing to projects that shape communities, this role offers hands‐on experience in professional engagement practice.

Key Responsibilities

* Create welcoming, inclusive environments where community members feel heard and respected.
* Represent RPS and our clients professionally at community engagement events.
* Guide participants through consultation activities and clearly explain project information.
* Capture accurate, high‐quality feedback to inform decision‐making.
* Support seamless event delivery, including set‐up, materials coordination and documentation.
* Build your expertise in engagement practice while following RPS systems and processes.
* Demonstrate initiative, adaptability and cultural awareness in dynamic environments.
* Maintain professionalism under pressure, ensuring a calm and positive presence at events.
* Uphold RPS health, safety and environmental standards at all times, including participating in required training, following safety procedures and proactively reporting hazards.
* Comply with and support RPS HSE policy and management systems.
* Participate in required safety and training initiatives and follow safety directives and work instructions.
* Stop work if unsafe and report incidents or hazards immediately to a supervisor.
* Apply rigorous confidentiality and secure data‐handling practices when managing community information.

You Are Someone Who

* Connects easily with people from all walks of life.
* Communicates clearly and listens with curiosity and empathy.
* Is confident guiding conversations and explaining information in accessible ways.
* Thrives in busy, people‐focused environments.
* Is reliable, punctual and professional when representing an organisation.
* Has experience in customer‐facing roles (customer service, hospitality, retail or volunteering).
* Has an interest in community engagement, communications or public consultation.
* Is flexible and available to work during regular business hours, evenings and weekends.
* Is willing to learn new tools and processes (training provided).
* Can demonstrate experience managing confidential or sensitive enquiries.

At RPS, everyone is empowered to bring their best. You'll be welcomed into a collaborative environment where your expertise is valued, and your contributions make impact. We also bring out the best in one another, always assuming best intent. People who learn and grow thrive in our business, sharing in our success.

Our Approach

Our people live our purpose, deliver our promise, and demonstrate our behaviours every day. Our behaviours define who we are. Developed by our people, they underpin everything that we do. They create the memorable experiences we are known for and make RPS a great place to do great work.

Stronger together is one of our five core behaviours and it is key to building a collaborative workplace. We encourage everyone to bring their best and to support others to do the same. By sharing knowledge, challenging each other to think differently, and fostering an environment of trust and respect, our people can learn, grow and thrive – and share in our success.

Recruitment Agencies

We have a Preferred Supplier List of trusted partners to assist us when required and do not acknowledge any speculative CVs or unsolicited candidate introductions from agencies not on this list. Please refer to the careers page on our website if you require any further information.
