The Role
Versatile Construction is seeking a proactive, site-embedded WHSE Advisor to partner with project teams and lift safety performance across our Sydney operations.
This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role that is ideal for someone who enjoys being on site, influencing decisions in real time, and shaping how safety is experienced by frontline teams.
You will work closely with operational leaders, subcontractors, and site teams to move beyond compliance and create practical, people-centred safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Embed with project teams to provide real-time safety guidance and influence daily site decisions.
* Champion a high-performance safety culture, engaging supervisors, subcontractors, and workers to lift standards beyond minimum compliance.
* Identify and mitigate risks through proactive site presence, inspections, and proactive prevention strategies.
* Analyse WHSE data and trends (incidents, near misses, leading indicators) and translate insights into site-level actions.
* Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations (ICAM), ensuring strong corrective actions and shared learning.
* Drive corrective action plans arising from audits, inspections, and reviews, partnering with site leadership to close out outcomes.
* Deliver training and toolbox talks that resonate with site teams and change behaviour, not just tick boxes.
* Support WHSE audits and health checks, contributing to structured improvement plans with Project Managers and Construction Managers.
* Enhance WHSE systems and procedures to ensure they are practical, compliant, and aligned to real site operations.

What We're Looking For
* 3+ years' experience in construction WHSE roles within contractor or live delivery environments.
* Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and NSW regulatory requirements.
* Proven ability to build trust and influence from subcontractors through to senior leadership.
* Comfortable managing complex or sensitive safety conversations with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
* Experience delivering training, toolbox talks, and cultural uplift initiatives on site.
* ICAM investigation experience (or similar) with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Excellent communication skills, strong judgement, and a hands-on, site-first attitude.
