Capital Equipment Repairs Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the inspection, testing, maintenance and technical servicing of earthmoving equipment and associated mechanical systems. The role involves assisting mechanical engineers and technical teams with equipment diagnostics, maintenance planning, testing and repair coordination, ensuring heavy machinery operates safely, efficiently and in compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Assist mechanical engineers in the installation, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems used in earthmoving machinery.
* Conduct scheduled inspections, servicing and operational testing of earthmoving equipment, mobile plant and associated mechanical systems.
* Perform mechanical diagnostics, inspections and fault-finding to identify operational issues and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
* Assist in the preparation of maintenance schedules, inspection reports and technical documentation for earthmoving equipment.
* Coordinate component removal, refurbishment, testing and re-installation of mechanical parts and assemblies.
* Monitor the performance, efficiency and reliability of heavy equipment, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
* Provide technical support to mechanical tradespersons and maintenance personnel during servicing and repair activities.
* Assist with parts procurement, inventory management and maintenance resource planning.
* Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and industry standards.
* Assist in supervising or coordinating maintenance contractors and service personnel where required.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports and service documentation.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
Skills and Experience
* Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
* Experience in inspection, diagnostics, servicing and maintenance of heavy machinery or earthmoving equipment.
* Demonstrated ability to analyse mechanical faults and assist with repair planning and maintenance strategies.
* Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and technical documentation.
* Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and industrial safety standards.
* Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians and mechanical trades personnel.
