THE ROLE
Applications are sought from experienced IT Technicians to join the team at Ora Banda. The responsibilities of this role will include:
1. Troubleshoot and resolve site-related IT, communications & network issues.
2. Setup and deploy IT infrastructure including computer hardware, networking equipment, communications devices, and remote access systems.
3. Conduct routing inspections of IT infrastructure to ensure operational reliability and compliance with internal standards.
4. Assist with physical IT installations (cabling, AV, radio base stations, mounting equipment etc)
5. Perform disaster recovery (DR) drills and test redundancy systems.
6. Create, maintain, and improve documentation for all aspects of site IT infrastructure/networking procedures.
7. Manage and maintain access provisioning for staff and contractors (Active Directory, VPN, door access etc)
8. Assist in developing scope of works (SoW) for site-based IT projects, upgrades, or relocations.
9. Supervise third-party IT or communications contractors on site to ensure safe and efficient completion of scoped works.
10. Perform basic maintenance on printers, plotters, and multi-function devices.
11. Assist with provisioning new users including device allocation/relocation and setup.
12. Update networking & communications devices and monitor network.
13. Maintain asset tracking software/database.
14. Quarantine and security flagged email monitoring.
15. Create and maintain technical documentation to assist users and management.
16. Assist management with planning for achieving strategic IT goals.
17. Build relationships with vendors to maintain appropriate levels of external support and explore opportunities for best fit solutions.
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
1. Tertiary qualification in IT/ITC or equivalent.
2. Manual Drivers License
3. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
4. Experience with virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
5. Familiarity with NAS/SAN Solutions (Synology/Other NAS manufacturers).
6. Familiarity with CCTV and TV solutions
7. Understanding of networking (VLANs, subnetting, DHCP).
8. Hardware installs and setup.
9. Knowledge of communications cabling standards.
10. Comfortable with supporting users in a remote environment.
11. Comfortable with the use of hand tools in a safety-focused environment.
12. Attention to detail and prioritization skills essential.
13. Able to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.
14. Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
15. Willing to learn and discover new technologies and systems as required.
16. Willingness to travel to remote locations.
17. Able to work independently and manage tasks during periods of minimal supervision.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
1. Certified communications technician or relevant experience highly desirable
2. Mine site or remote site experience.
3. Azure administration and support.
4. Cisco equipment exposure.
5. Knowledge of Cat6 Ethernet and Fibre Optics cabling.
6. Ubiquiti networking exposure.
7. VPN and Firewall experience.
8. Experience with radio communications and operational technology.
9. Previous experience supporting fleet management systems, SCADA, or time-tagged telemetry is highly regarded.
10. Understanding of cyber security principles.
11. Previous experience in a mining environment with Mining Software packages such as Deswick, Surpac, Micromine.
12. Previous Pronto experience would be an advantage.
