Role Overview:
As the Graphic & Digital Designer for Yirra Miya, you will play a pivotal role in highlighting cultural authenticity and storytelling through visual communication. This includes designing social media and print content, animations, layouts for reports and branded documents, and contributing to client projects. A key aspect of this role is promoting and respecting First Nations cultural values in all your work within our small, creative team.
We seek a team member with graphic and multimedia design skills, experience or willingness to engage with First Nations communities and businesses. Cultural understanding and respect for First Nations protocols are essential to maintain our commitment to respectful and meaningful collaborations. Core responsibilities include:
* Create digital and print collateral such as reports, flyers, infographics, and branded documents.
* Design layouts for reports, strategic plans, annual reports, and capability statements, ensuring readability and visual appeal.
* Collaborate to ensure designs meet client expectations for function, accessibility, and cultural integrity.
* Develop and uphold brand guidelines for Yirra Miya and clients.
* Create original illustrations and infographics using Adobe Illustrator.
* Support creative ideas and solutions for visual communication.
* Refine images, fonts, and layouts with graphic design software, maintaining high quality standards.
* Design animations, motion graphics, and GIFs for digital media.
* Edit video content and animated sequences aligned with our storytelling and cultural values.
* Participate in client briefings and provide creative input.
Experience and qualifications:
* At least 3 years in graphic or multimedia design.
* Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field.
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and animation tools).
* Interest or experience working with First Nations communities and businesses, with a willingness to engage meaningfully.

Working hours:
This is a part-time role, requiring 27.5 hours per week over 4-5 days, with start and end times negotiable within our operational hours of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm AEDT. The role offers growth opportunities as the business expands.
