Job Description
This role leads the planning, analysis, and technical advisory services for Victoria's Declared Shared Network. The successful candidate will oversee short-term transition planning to ensure the power system remains secure, reliable, and resilient as coal generation retires.
About The Role
The Manager will be responsible for leading technical services to integrate network assets and system services into Victoria's Declared Shared Network. This involves coordinating projects from Planning through to Delivery, overseeing network and system performance monitoring, and ensuring operational issues inform Network Planning to strengthen power system resilience.
This role requires strong collaboration across AEMO, Vic Grid, Victorian network service providers, and particularly with AEMO's operations, network services, and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading technical services to integrate network assets and system services into Victoria's Declared Shared Network, coordinating projects from Planning through to Delivery.
* Overseeing network and system performance monitoring, ensuring operational issues inform Network Planning to strengthen power system resilience.
* Providing expert technical advice to Vic Grid and the Victorian Government on the operational shift from thermal generation to high renewable penetration.
* Building and empowering a high-performing team of seven, role modelling AEMO's values, and managing budget, compliance, risk, and workforce planning.
* Establishing strong stakeholder relationships and delivering agreed action plans that enhance engagement and support AEMO's strategic goals.
What You Will Bring To The Role
* Education: Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (for example, engineering).
* Experience & Knowledge: Significant industry experience in power system planning, with strong knowledge of power system modelling, analysis, and primary plant design.
* Proven track record leading geographically dispersed teams through transformation, delivering high-quality outcomes, and reporting to senior management.
* Demonstrated capability in project planning, reporting, and delivery, ensuring timely completion to agreed quality standards.
* Advanced consulting and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and negotiate complex technical matters.
* In-depth understanding of the political, legal, and regulatory environment of the energy sector, including AEMO's unique Victorian jurisdictional roles and obligations.
