The Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport to the student either fully or in part.

This role has the responsibility for the safe transportation of students with a disability from their home to school and vice versa, adhering to road laws and providing great customer service to our students and their families.

This Driving position would be required to collect students from their home at the beginning of the day and transport them to school. At the end of the day to collect them from School and transport them home. This position is based in Deniliquin and surrounds. Use of a company car for when transporting children is provided.

What does a day look like?

In the morning you will collect the transport car from the office, drive to collect the student from their home and take to school. You will then return the car to the office and ensure that it is clean and ready for the afternoon collection. You will return to the office in the afternoon to collect the car and drive to pick the student up from school and transport home. In some cases, there may be multiple children that you are collecting. In most cases there will be an Assisted School Travel Officer traveling in the vehicle with you depending on the needs of the student.

Start and finish times will be between 7.30am and 9.30am in the morning and between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities:

* Undertake daily transport run as outlined in travel route.
* Use of an app to complete compliance activities on a daily basis
* Observe and comply with all WH&S requirements.
* Maintain contact with Families and Schools as required.
* Maintain the cleanliness of the company car (interior and exterior)
* Carries out any additional duties that may be requested.

Qualifications and experience:

* Current drivers' licence with a clean driving record
* Be a confident driver
* Excellent Language and Literacy skills
* Be able to confidently use a mobile phone and/or computer
* Flexible with the days of work (Monday to Friday)
* Reliable and Flexible to start early mornings

The successful candidate will also need to meet the Assisted School Travel program compliance requirements, this includes:

* Working with Children's Check for paid employment.
* NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
* Fit to Drive Medical clearance.
* Successful Police check (No prior or pending convictions)
* Successful Driving record (No prior or pending infringements)
