Benalla P-12 College is located in the Rural City of Benalla, close to the Victorian snowfields and the major centres of Wangaratta and Shepparton.
The town is surrounded by quality wineries, National Parks, bushwalking trails, fishing and water sports on Lake Nillahcootie, and the Murray River is only an hour away.
Melbourne can be reached in two hours via the Hume Freeway or the Melbourne-to-Wodonga railway line.
Benalla offers a relaxed country-town lifestyle within a supportive, welcoming community.
Benalla P-12 College was established in January **** from the merger of all four government schools in Benalla.
In **** major capital works were completed, giving the secondary college a new STEAM building, an administration building, and state-of-the-art food-technology teaching space.
Grounds have been landscaped and there is ample space for creative learning.
The College has about 700 students across three campuses – 400 in primary years and 300 in secondary.
The school supports students from foundation through to VCE, nurturing them in a vibrant, stimulating environment.
The College is led by a Principal and Assistant Principals at each campus.

Qualification Requirements
The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
If the person completed an Australian postgraduate initial teaching program on or after 1 January ****, they must have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate accredited initial teacher education programme recognised by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority.
A person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme after 1 July **** must also have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
Selection Criteria
SC1Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy integration, and experience responding to student learning needs.
SC2Experience planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by student learning and evaluating outcomes.
SC3Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback to students and parents.
SC4Interpersonal and communication skills; establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community.
SC5Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values; reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
Role
The classroom teacher classification has two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, effectively engaging students and improving learning.
Teachers gain experience and may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to their salary range, qualifications, training, and experience.
Range 2 Responsibilities
Have content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet diverse learner needs.
Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers, supporting staff to expand capacity.
Provide expert advice on content, processes and strategies that shape individual and school professional learning.
Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches and achieve targets to improve outcomes.
Range 1 Responsibilities
Develop skills and competencies to become an effective practitioner with structured support.
Teach a range of students and be accountable for effective delivery of programs.
Possibly supervise and train student teachers.
Participate in policy development, project teams and co-curriculum activities.
General Responsibilities (both ranges)
Direct teaching of group and individual students.
Contribute to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.
Undertake other classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as required by the Principal.
Participate in parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Undertake supervisory duties not directly teaching.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).

Payments and Support on Offer
Relocation expenses reimbursement up to $5,000 and support to identify suitable housing.
$10,000 (before-tax) retention payments pro-rata for positions less than full-time, at the conclusion of the second, third and fourth years, for a total of up to $30,000.
RRI Candidate Eligibility
New employee to this school.
Remain employed at this school for two years to receive the initial retention payment and for subsequent years to receive third-year and fourth-year payments.
Meet relocation requirements (e.g., ordinarily resides at least one hour from this school and relocates).
Ordinary place of residence not classified as Remote, Inner Regional, or Outer Regional Australia per Australian Bureau of Statistics.
