Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Maternity page is loaded## Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Maternitylocations: Geelong, Victoriatime type: Part timeposted on: Posted Todaytime left to apply: End Date: June 1, 2026 (26 days left to apply)job requisition id: JR-16284**Your role at St John of God St John of God Geelong Hospital****We are seeking** an experienced and motivated Associate Midwifery Unit Manager (AMUM) to join our Women and Newborn Services team at St John of God Geelong Hospital.The Associate Nurse Unit Manager acts as a responsible and effective team member and leader, assisting in the overall clinical management of the ward and ensuring the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of nursing care in accordance with AHPRA requirements.Working **0.57 EFT on a permanent part‐time basis**, you will provide clinical leadership and operational support across **Birth Suite, Postnatal and Special Care Nursery**, ensuring the delivery of safe, high‐quality, woman‐centred care.**The Position:*** Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or Coordinator according to changes in levels.* Provide leadership and direction to team in the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager and act as a role model and resource person.* Responsible for assisting the Nurse Unit Manager in following issues pertaining to human resources within the department and will assume full responsibility in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager.* Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or Coordinator according to changes in levels.* Maintains and promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective team work between staff, patient, relative, doctors and ancillary staff.* Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment Provide leadership and direction to team in the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager and act as a role model and resource person.* Participate in, contribute to and implement quality improvement and risk management into all aspects of service.* Participate in the documentation of Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures for activities that could pose an OHS risk.* Raise OHS issues with appropriate caregivers and take part in OHS consultative arrangements.* Demonstrates progress towards the achievement of goals and personal and professional growth.You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse Midwife or Registered Midwife and have well developed analytical and problem solving skills and knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing. With demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teamsTo succeed, you will demonstrate strong delegation, planning, organisational and motivational skills, supported by solid clinical experience in Birth Suite (essential). You will have demonstrated leadership or acting‐in‐charge experience, a commitment to ongoing education and self‐directed learning, and the ability to effectively communicate and educate patients, families and staff.
