Responsibilities
- Have a hands-on approach to develop, fault find & test.
- Be independent and responsible for your own work.
- See projects through all stages of concept to real-world deployment.
- Liaise with clients regularly to understand their needs and translate them into effective software solutions.
- Set up and test project-specific hardware during prototyping.
- Work with electrical engineers and industrial designers to create fully functional designs.
- Apply fundamental concepts such as the train-test split, confusion matrix and other performance metrics in training and assessment of AI models.
- Extract meaningful insights from data (image/video data, time series, pointcloud data) for tasks such as classification, detection, segmentation, localisation and measurement.
- Train vision models and write surrounding code to extract insights from the processed feed; train classical models on sensor data for regression or classification.
- Use SLAM with LiDAR to map environments and position the system.
About you
- You have a university qualification in Mechatronics/Computer Science/Software Engineering/Data Science or equivalent.
- You are proficient in Python.
- You communicate effectively, collaborate, and are committed to expanding your knowledge in hardware and software development.
- You solve problems practically and with attention to detail.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You are proactive, curious, and willing to learn by researching, testing, and trying until you find solutions.
- You manage your time and priorities and work diligently without shortcuts.
- You reside within commuting distance (<30 mins) of Robotic Systems at Maryville and hold an Australian Driver's Licence with your own transport.
Bonus Points
- Experience creating combined software & hardware solutions.
- Experience with Python libraries such as Multiprocessing, PySide/PyQT, NumPy, and pandas.
- Experience with deep learning (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, FastAI, MM, Hugging Face, Ultralytics, Roboflow, Azure ML).
- Experience with classical techniques (scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, Random Forests, SVMs).
- Experience with remote deployment and management of field-deployed edge computing (NVIDIA Jetson).
Position Details
- AI software development for industrial product design.
- Annual salary: $95,000 – $140,000 + superannuation (based on experience).
- Working Hours: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
- Main location: 1/45 The Avenue, Maryville, NSW.
- Start Date: April/May.
