* **This is an exciting time to help lead our analysis of domestic economic developments*** **You will help lead a team of analysts responsible for the analysis of domestic economic activity, which feeds into the material presented to the Reserve Bank Board and to the public*** **Work in a collaborative and dynamic environment that allows flexible working arrangements and opportunities to grow****About the department**The Economic Analysis Department monitors and forecasts trends in domestic and international economies to brief the Monetary Policy Board, Governance Board and the public on the state of the economy. It plays an important role in making recommendations for monetary policy. Its two main responsibilities are the monthly Monetary Policy Board and Governance Board meeting and the Bank's key policy-related publication, the quarterly Statement on Monetary Policy (SMP).It is responsible for a regular liaison program with businesses, governments and associations across different states and industries to collect information to complement data from official sources. The department manages the Bank's office in Beijing, which is responsible for monitoring economic and financial developments and maintaining relationships with government and private sector entities in China.**About the role**We are looking for a senior economist (manager) in the Domestic Activity and Trade section (DAT). DAT sits within the Bank's Economic Analysis department and is responsible for assessing developments in and producing forecasts for Australian economic activity and the housing market. The role forms part of a leadership team of three that leads and develops the team and provides analytical and strategic guidance on policy-relevant issues.A key function of the role is to distil a wide set of information into a concise narrative that sets the domestic macroeconomic context for the Board's monetary policy decisions and public communication.**About you**We are looking for an adaptable team player to join the section and department leadership team. Given the nature of the team's work, the ideal candidate will possess the following:* Strong people leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to nurture an inclusive culture and team-based approach to work.* Strong macroeconomic frameworks and experience in economic analysis and research or in a closely related field.* Strong organisational skills and the ability to judge what issues are most important and to reprioritise quickly as circumstances change, and a passion to own the delivery of the team's regular outputs and analytical agenda.* Strong stakeholder engagement skills together with an ability to work collaboratively with other sections in the Bank and externally.* Strong communication skills, including the ability to identify the key issues that need to be conveyed to external audience.* Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance or closely related field, or equivalent experience.**Next steps**To apply for this role, candidates should submit their **resume and provide written responses to the following three short answer questions** (maximum response is 200 words per question) in-lieu of a cover letter:2.
