We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to fill the role of Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Consultant. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with local communities, support cultural events, and contribute to meaningful change through quality improvement.
About the Role
As an Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Consultant, you will provide culturally safe, holistic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan. Grounded in the SEWB Framework, your work will centre on strengthening cultural identity, connection to Country, and community wellbeing.
You will walk alongside people experiencing distress, grief, trauma, or disconnection—offering strengths-based care that includes traditional healing, yarning circles, and culturally responsive advocacy. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help clients navigate complex systems and ensure care plans reflect their cultural identity, lived experience, and aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with Aboriginal children, families, and Elders in culturally responsive ways to identify and address social and emotional wellbeing needs.
* Provide case management and support services to individuals and families experiencing mental health, substance use, or family violence issues.
* Facilitate yarning circles, group programs, and cultural healing activities to promote social and emotional wellbeing.
* Collaborate with other service providers to develop and implement effective care plans and strategies.
Requirements
* Experience working with the SEWB framework and understanding people's care needs.
* Deep understanding of the impacts of colonisation, trauma, and systemic disadvantage on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Relevant VET qualification (Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol or Drugs) or equivalent tertiary qualification.
