Tell me about this role:
Are you ready to take on a high-impact leadership role in the sustainment of Defence maritime? We're looking for a permanent full-time Program Manager who thrives on challenge, drives operational excellence, and is passionate about supporting the future of Defence capability.
What will I be doing day to day?
* Establish and lead the PMO, setting up program structures, governance processes and reporting rhythms
* Drive execution of the remediation plan, ensuring coordinated delivery across multiple workstreams and partners
* Act as the central coordination point for all program activities; providing visibility, alignment and communication across Defence and Defence Industry stakeholders
* Lead stakeholder engagement with Commonwealth representatives and other external suppliers ensuring consistent communication and relationship management
* Monitor program performance; managing schedules, risks, issues, financials and interdependencies to maintain program momentum
* Ensure compliance and alignment with safety, regulatory and capability requirements
* Provide strategic advice and reporting to senior leadership; ensuring they are informed of progress, risks and decision points
* Foster a high‐performance culture within the program team and contribute to continuous improvement across program processes
What sort of skills do I need?
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Program/Project Management, Business or a related discipline (engineering background highly regarded)
* Demonstrated experience establishing and leading PMOs; including setting up governance, reporting frameworks, and program controls
* Strong background in Defence project or program delivery, preferably within maritime or platform sustainment environments
* Leadership DNA: Ability to motivate, coach, and lead dispersed teams
* Stakeholder engagement mastery: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
* Operational excellence mindset: Detail oriented, organised, and committed to delivering results
* Business acumen: Strong understanding of consulting, financials, and program management
* Australian citizenship, NV1 clearance, ITAR compliant
