Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fixed plant and other equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Read drawings, work orders, and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications.
* Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal using gas-shielded metal arc.
* Examine work for defects and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
* Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders, and carbon rod gauging.
* Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify supervisors.
* Accept responsibility for day-to-day activities required and undertaken at the work site.
* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times.
* Liaise with a supervisor regarding machine breakdowns, day-to-day maintenance of machinery, and machine safety and guarding.
* Ensure that all work to be carried out has been approved through a purchase order.
* Correctly complete daily and weekly timesheets clearly indicating job numbers and purchase order numbers.
