The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Warehouse Assistant to coordinate the Christmas Warehouse on behalf of the Children & Families Stream. You will be responsible for the collection of donated gifts, food products, volunteer rostering and management and the distribution of donated gifts through internal TSA programs as well as external organisations.
Reporting to the Doorways Manager, this is a fixed term part-time position, contracted until January 2025, 15.2 hours per week, based in Derwent Park, TAS. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3.
You will successfully
- Provide support to the management of volunteer labour safely and effectively
- Manage to the receiving and distribution of gifts to Doorways sites, internal mission expressions and external agencies
- Teamwork is demonstrated in team and practice meetings
- Monitor and follow up Christmas Cheer referrals form the PAL through the dedicated ER inbox
- Gift cards are recorded accurately and kept in a secure location
- Picking and packing of gift orders
- Support provides to caseworkers and Corps officers during gift selection
- Returned Bags of Hope are checked to ensure content is correct
- Supermarket orders are made to ensure that Bags of Hope has necessary items
- Coordinate and support the packing of stock and protected storage of remaining stock at the end of the Christmas Cheer period
- Distribute left over Bags of Hope food items between Doorways centres and other TSA mission expression
You will have
- Preferred warehouse experience
- Management of staff / volunteers
- Report writing
- Excellent organisation skills
- A current and valid Working with Vulnerable People Check (Child Related Activity)
- A current Tasmanian Drivers licence
