The BelRose Group has been engaged by the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) to recruit a Non-Executive Director to the TMAG Board of Trustees. This appointment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant cultural institution and support its ongoing impact across Tasmania.
TMAG is a statutory authority governed under the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery Act 2017. As Australia’s second oldest museum, it plays a central role in collecting, conserving and sharing Tasmania’s cultural, scientific and artistic heritage. TMAG engages broad audiences through exhibitions, research and public programs and continues to strengthen its connection with communities across the State.
The Board seeks an experienced and capable Non-Executive Director based in southern Tasmania to contribute to its governance and strategic oversight. As a member of the Board of Trustees, you will support the organisation’s long term direction, performance and public value, while bringing specialist expertise in marketing, communications and audience engagement and/ or expertise and extensive experience in the arts and museum sectors.
Working closely with fellow Trustees and the executive team, you will contribute to informed decision making, and support the ongoing visibility and relevance of TMAG across diverse communities. You will also engage with stakeholders across government, community and the cultural sector, helping to strengthen relationships and broaden impact.
Applications are encouraged by people with experience across a range of areas including capital projects, private public partnerships, commercial operations, natural science and philanthropic activities, including people with strong research and collections experience.
A strong understanding of community engagement, combined with the ability to think strategically and contribute at Board level, will be important to success in this role.
This appointment offers the opportunity to contribute to a high profile cultural institution with a strong public purpose. You will join a committed Board and play a meaningful role in shaping TMAG’s future direction and impact across Tasmania. Board remuneration of $12,847 per annum is provided, with a three year appointment term and a time commitment that includes Board meetings every second month and participation in committees.
Candidates are expected to have strong governance and strategic thinking skills with prior board or committee experience.
