Registered Nurse - Pulmonary - Part Time Third Shift
The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism. Also directs, coordinates and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

Responsibilities
Carry out the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management.
Ensure quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism.
Direct, coordinate and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
RN II Role and Expectations
A Registered Nurse II (RN II) is responsible for the care of the population they are assigned. Responsibilities include completing yearly mandatory competencies, unit-specific competencies identified by the Director/Designee, and Professional Practice Ladder requirements such as assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI Activity and department initiatives. It also includes communicating with the Director/Designee and coworkers, participating in staff development activities, and maintaining a current portfolio submitted annually by March 1st. Routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for the unit, and develops educational materials for staff, patients and family members.
Education
Associates Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) is required.
Bachelor's Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience
Advancement to RN II requires a minimum of 1872 hours of RN experience for full-time or part-time work (936 hours if BSN holder) and completion of a performance evaluation.
Certification & Licensures
RN License is required. Must be licensed or eligible to practice in Virginia (Multi-state via Nurse Licensure Compact or Single-state license valid in Virginia).
BLS Certification (AHA Healthcare Provider) required before completion of orientation.
Relevant Specialty Certification is preferred.
Qualifications
Meets all requirements of an RN I.
Competent to provide care across cognitive, physical, emotional and development stages; competent to provide care using the nursing process.
Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
